Thorsten Achenbach ist the new CIO at BMW’s Chinese joint venture, BMW Brilliance Automotive.
The IT manager, who earlier served as vice president at consultants Capgemini, has been in his new position in China since September 1.
Achenbach, who has an engineering degree, knows BMW well from his days as global account director for BMW at IT service provider NTT Data.
BMW Brilliance has handled the German carmaker’s manufacturing, sales and after-sales in China since 2003.
In 2014, BMW sold more than 455,000 vehicles in China. The company has invested more than 2 billion euros in its Shenyang plant and in R&D activities in China in the past five years.
