NXP Semiconductors has signed an agreement with Changan Automobile to deliver infotainment semiconductors to the Chinese carmaker. In a second phase, Changan will rely on NXP chips to increase its cars’ connectivity.
NXP, one of the largest makers of automotive semiconductors, said it would work with Changan to develop industry standards for future vehicle semiconductors. The two companies also will cooperate on infotainment and other products.
In the second phase of the agreement, NXP said Changan will deploy its vehicle-to-X communication, NFC chips and the advanced driver assistance systems the Netherlands-based chipmaker has developed.
Citing NXP’s track record in vehicle electronics, Changan Automobile Vice President Li Wei said: “With this long-term strategic partnership, Changan Automobile will take a major step forward in establishing itself as an innovation leader in the Chinese automobile industry.”
