Schaeffler has acquired autinity systems, a specialist company in digital machine data recording and evaluation, in a move designed to give the German automotive supplier added expertise in digital manufacturing technologies.
Schaeffler has identified digitalization as a major business opportunity. The company already is working on 30 digitalization projects and it expects to double this number by next year.
To adopt digital manufacturing technologies, companies need machine data that can be recorded in near real-time. Storage and analysis of the data are eqully important.
autinity will allow Schaeffler to further develop its digital strategy. “We have been using software solutions by autinity for many years now,” Schaeffler CDO Gerhard Baum said in a statement: “The acquisition of this company will help us to intensify our collaboration and accelerate further developments in the fields of machine data recording and condition monitoring.”
Baum said these are “essential elements of Schaeffler’s digital agenda.” He cited strong demand both from internal and external customers.
