Peugeot will show a diesel-electric hybrid, the 508 RXH, at the Frankfurt auto show.
It is the second model to feature the French brand’s new Hybrid4 diesel-electric power plant. Last year, Peugeot launched the 3008 Hybrid4 crossover
The 508 RXH is a completely separate model that will go on sale in the spring of 2012.
Its engine will have a combined output of 200 BHP, derived from a 2.0 HDi FAP diesel engine and an electric motor powering the rear axle.
Peugeot, which belongs to the PSA/Peugeot-Citroen group, will also show a concept car, the HX1. The model will seat up to six people in a vehicle the brand says will have an “unconventional” styling.
The company said the HX1 will be characterized by its adaptability. “The HX 1 can metamorphose to suit its environment, the driving conditions and the expectations of its occupants,” Peugeot said.
The concept car will have power output of 299 BHP from a 2.2 liter HDi engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor integrated in the rear axle.
