At its Annual General Meeting in Ingolstadt last week, Audi’s board of management outlined initiatives including the development of an integrated IT platform for connectivity and digital services, and a new digital product management unit reporting to the CEO.
This new business unit will steer the planning, implementation and operation of digital products alongside “the existing core business,” a statement describes, “thus establishing digital value added organizationally.”
The integrated IT platform for vehicle connectivity and vehicle services will share its back-end with other brands within the Volkswagen Group, and settings for customers and their content can be transferred between the brands. Audi is the VW Group’s premium brand.
“We want to have premium electric cars and digital services that are also attractive in economic terms. That is our clear ambition for the mobility of the future,” said Alexander Seitz, board member for ‘finance, IT and integrity. “To that end, we are utilizing group synergies significantly more effectively and are releasing resources for strategy projects with our Action and Transformation Plan.”
