Specialist electric-vehicle maker Fisker Automotive has appointed Tom LaSorda as CEO. Company co-founder Henrik Fisker will step aside to become executive chairman.
Henrik Fisker will focus on building the Fisker brand in global markets as well as on the styling and design of future models. Fisker Automotive’s only car so far is the range-extend Fisker Karma EV.
LaSorda, 57,Â will have full responsibility for running Fisker Automotive’s day to day operations. He joined the company as an executive adviser and vice chairman in December. LaSorda previously was CEO of Chrysler and held a number of executive positions at General Motors.
Henrik Fisker said in a statement that he wants to build Fisker Automotive into “an iconic global automotive brand with a range of desirable cars that offer environmentally responsible luxury.”
LaSorda said he will forge close ties with other automotive companies to achieve that goal. Said the new CEO:Â “As part of our future strategy, we will be seeking strong partnerships and alliances as Fisker continues to grow as a brand.”
