Volkswagen Group is teaming up with Chinaâ€™s Mobvoi to develop and implement artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the car.
The German automotive group said the two companies will form a 50-50 joint venture to develop technologies for smart mobility.
Mobvoi is a Chinese specialist in voice recognition, natural language processing and other technologies that are set toÂ benefit from AI.
â€œWe are impressed by Mobvoiâ€™s innovative approach of AI technology, and we are pleased to form this joint venture to explore the next generation of smart mobility,â€ Volkswagen Group China CEO Jochem Heizmann said in a statement.
For Mobvoi, the cooperation with the worldâ€™s largest car group, offers an opportunity to speed up, deepen and expand its R&D in the area of new automotive technologies.
Said Mobvoi CEO Zhifei Li: â€œMobvoiâ€™s mission has always been redefining the next generation human-machine interaction and this joint venture will provide us a new platform to do so.â€
The joint venture will develop products for VW Group models as well as other brands.
