NTT Data has appointed Patrizio Mapelli to lead its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Mapelli will also be in charge of the key German business.
Mapelli, who currently heads NTT Data’s Italian operations and is also in charge of the IT consultancy’s enterprise business unit, will take on his new role April 1. He will succeed Thomas Balgheim, who in recent years oversaw the integration of various newly acquired companies into NTT Data.
NTT Data has taken over a range of IT companies in recent years, including Cirquent, Intelligroup, Keane and Value Team.
Mapelli said in a press statement that he hopes to continue on a strong growth path in the EMEA region. “It is my ambition to help make NTT DATA a top five player in the IT services and consulting industry – and it is my firm belief we will achieve this,” he said.
In the German market, Mapelli will have three new managing directors reporting to him. Rainer Mehl will head manufacturing, Wendelin Frei will handle telecommunications, utilities, services and logistics, and Dieter Loewe will be in charge of public and financial services.
Mehl has for the past three years been in charge of manufacturing consulting for the automotive and manufacturing industries in the German-speaking countries.
Commenting on the importance of the German market, Mitsutaka Nakamura, director and chairman of NTT DATA in the EMEA region, said: “The fact that we have appointed three German managing directors to assist Patrizio Mapelli underlines the close ties the EMEA business has with the German organization.”
