Ian Robertson will retire as BMW’s head of sales and marketing in 2018, handing over to Philips executive Pieter Nota on January 1.
Robertson, the former head of BMW’s Rolls-Royce luxury brand, has been in his current position for almost 10 years. “Even through challenging economic times, he enabled the continuous growth of the company by achieving one sales record after the other,” BMW supervisory board chairman Norbert Reithofer said in a statement.
Robertson’s succesor, Pieter Nota, currently serves as head of marketing for the personal health division of Dutch electronics group Philips. Earlier, Nota held management positions at Germanys Beiersdorf and Anglo-Dutch consumer products group Unilever.
BMW CEO Harald Krueger cited in particular Nota’s change management skills and his international background. Said Krueger: “I am convinced that his proven track record in innovation and transformation will continue to lead our core brand BMW and its products through the future of connected mobility.”
