DS Automobiles will use the “Virtual Garage” technology developed by Dassault Systemes to launch its new SUV, the DS 7 Crossback.
Dassault Systemes, which is a leading supplier of 3D design, digital mock up and product lifecycle management software, said its technology will transform DS showrooms by providing an immersive virtual reality experience.
That experience is created with the help of an HTC Vive head-mounted display, which offers wearers an opportunity to inspect and test a broad range of options for the car.
Virtual Garage is built on Dassault Systemes” 3DExperience platform. It delivers 3D sales and marketing materials, applications and event experiences. DS plans to deploy DS Virtual Vision across showrooms in Europe.
” The 3DExperience platform lets automotive brands differentiate themselves and reinvent the event and showroom experiences,” said Olivier Sappin, vice president, transportation & mobility industry at Dassault Systemes. The virtual reality interaction can take place “even before a vehicle is physically available,” he added.
DS Automobiles is the premium brand of France’s PSA Group.
The DS 7 Crossback was launched at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this month.
