The Shanghai Auto Show, which will start with two press days April 19 and 20, takes place as car sales in China look set to continue to grow at a solid, double-digit pace in 2017.
The show, which will run through April 28, takes place every other year. In 2015, it moved to a new 400,000 square-meter national exhibition center.
The Shanghai event claims to be the world’s biggest auto show. In 2015, it attracted 928,000 visitors from 18 countries. More than 1,300 vehicles were on display and the event featured 109 premieres.
China is the world’s biggest car market and many international automakers count on sales there to drive their global growth. And, with strong government incentives, the country’s market for electric vehicles is also set to expand sharply in coming years.
