Siemens and Bentley Systems have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly market software for the digital planning of car factories and other manufacturing facilities.
The cooperation is designed to deliver “intelligent and sustainable digital factory infrastructure,” the companies said in a press release.
Siemens and Bentley Systems, which is not related to the Bentley car brand, said their aim is to provide software that combines digital equipment design with manufacturing process information.
The shared offering should speed up plant building, reduce design, construction and operating costs and improve the energy efficiency of the factory, they said.
Siemens’s Industry Automation Division makes, among other things, Teamcenter product lifecycle management software. Bentley Systems specializes in infrastructure design software such ProjectWise, a product team collaboration platform.
