TomTom said it is introducing its VIA range of personal navigation devices to India in a move to benefit from the strong growth in the country's car market.

The Dutch navigation systems group said in a press release that the introduction of its products follows the establishment of a sales office in India earlier this year

"There is no doubt that the navigation market in India is growing briskly and looking for high quality, easy to use navigation solutions." said Jocelyn Vigreux, managing director of TomTom India.

TomTom said its maps now cover all of India with street-level detail. The maps form the backbone of the VIA products that will be aimed at the local market.

The company said it will expand coverage and add relevant content like points of interest for landmark navigation at later dates.

TomTom's Indian VIA series, which will be available in stores and at local dealers from October, also features hands-free calling, lane guidance and voice control
