More than 50,000 German BMW employees will get Deutsche Telekom sim cards for their business-related mobile communications, the German telecommunications group said.

The two companies signed an agreement that runs through the end of 2019 and plan to expand the cooperation to other countries.

Telekom said it will integrate the employee sim cards directly into the business processes of the German premium car group. That means, for example, that  text messages and mobile data connections will be used as part of logistics and manufacturing processes.

Telekom management board member Reinhard Clemens said in a statement that the service provider won the contract with BMW in a market characterized by price wars. He added that Telekom's broad reach and the quality of its service were key factors in getting the order.

Said Clemens: "Corporate customers in particular are interested not only in the price, but also in the level of network availability and top-level service."
