PSA has launched the DS 7 Crossback in China featuring new services underpinned by Huawei’s OceanConnect IoT platform. These include in-car natural language voice recognition, a connected services portal and connected navigation, plus information such as vehicle status, journey history and driving style which can be viewed via smartphone app.

Further services such as remote vehicle diagnostics and maintenance functions, over-the-air updates and a personal assistant will also be added, with both fleet managers and private consumers in mind.

The Huawei technology forms the basis of PSA’s Connected Vehicle Modular Platform (CVMP). “DS 7 Crossback is the first vehicle to benefit from this joint project, which will ultimately be rolled out to all group vehicles,” said Jean Leflour, PSA's senior vice-president, connected vehicle and services architecture strategy. "With Huawei, well-known for its innovation capacity, we are pleased to show the first tangible result of our partnership providing our customers with a new experience enabled by the CVMP,” he said in a statement.

Leon He, head of Huawei’s automotive industry business unit, added: “The key to successful digital transformation of car manufacturers is to build a digital cloud platform. Based on the platform, car manufacturers, ecosystem developers and industry application partners are gathered to jointly sell vehicle products and services across countries in the global market, and provide personalized travel services to car owners and users.”

The DS 7 Crossback has been on show this week at the Huawei booth at the Hannover Messe 2018.
