Here, which was acquired from Nokia by a consortium of German carmakers last year, appointed Edzard Overbeek to head the operations of the digital mapping group.
Overbeek, 48, is a senior executive at Cisco, where he most recently has been responsible for theÂ technology group's 12 billion-dlr global services organization. Earlier, he worked at several other companies, including Fujitsu and Siemens.
Overbeek starts as Here CEO March 1.
Nokia sold Here to a consortium of Audi, BMW and Daimler last year, but the new owners have made clear that Here maps, which are used in more than 80 pc of all in-car navigation systems, will continue to be available to all customers.
The three automakers said in a joint statement that Overbeek is "well suited to drive the business and technology agenda for HereÂ for the benefit of all of its customers across the many industries it serves."
