AT&T has signed a multi-year agreement to provide connectivity to Volvo Cars in North America.

The US  communications group said that, starting this summer, its "Single SIM" mobile communications platform would be available to buyers of Volvo's 2o15 model-year cars. Through Volvo's Sensus Connect infotainment service, buyers of the new cars would have access to a range of remote access-functions and an emergency crash notification service.

Chris Penrose, senior vice president, Emerging Devices at AT&T Mobility, said the Single SIM offering "will make it easy for Volvo customers to have high-speed wireless connectivity in the US and Canada."

AT&T also gives Volvo access to its service management platform, the AT&T Control Center, which provides the Swedish premium car maker  with diagnostics tools to manage wireless devices used in its cars.
