AT&T has signed a multi-year agreement to provide connectivity to Volvo Cars in North America.
The US Â communications group said that, starting this summer, its "Single SIM" mobile communications platform would be available to buyers of Volvo's 2o15 model-year cars. Through Volvo's Sensus Connect infotainment service, buyers of the new cars would have access to a range of remote access-functions and an emergency crash notification service.
Chris Penrose, senior vice president, Emerging Devices at AT&T Mobility, said the Single SIM offering "will make it easy for Volvo customers to have high-speed wireless connectivity in the US and Canada."
AT&T also gives Volvo access to its service management platform, the AT&T Control Center, which provides the Swedish premium car maker  with diagnostics tools to manage wireless devices used in its cars.
