HANOVER -  A senior T-Systems executive on Thursday said companies should adopt scaleable and secure cloud computing and mobile-collaboration solutions if they want to deal with today's business challenges.

"Data should be accessible everywhere in the world, for customers and employees - secure, comfortable and fast," Luz Mauch, senior vice president automotive at T-Systems.

Mauch told the automotiveIT Congress here that IT solutions can help companies stay in close contact with their customers along every step of the value chain. That's essential to be successful in today's business environment, Mauch said.

T-Systems, which is the business services division of Germany's Telekom, offers a range of connectivity services under the header "Zero Distance."

Mauch cited as the major trends in the car industry the globalization of production, the increased speed of production cycles and the necessity to deal with innovations coming from other industries. He also noted that carmakers need to work with new players in the auto industry and develop new forms of personal mobility.

The automotiveIT Congress takes place every year during the CeBIT high-tech fair here. The conference, which brings together more than 500 executives from the automotive and IT industries, is held this year for the fifth time.
