The Beijing Auto Show takes place amid continuing strong car sales growth in China
backdrop of continued strong sales growthÂ in the Chinese car market.
The exhibition, which alternates each year between Shanghai and Beijing, will be staged at the China International Exhibition Center in the Chinese capital. It will cover 230,000 square meters.
In 2014, more than 2,000 automotive companies from 14 countries and regions had displays at the Beijing show. Most major automakers were present, underscoring theÂ importance of the world's biggest car market.
In 2015, passenger car sales in China rose 7.3 pc toÂ 21.1 million units, a slowdown from the 10 pc increase registered in 2014. Sales are expected to grow slightly faster than in 2015 this year, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
The Beijing show, which featured 31 world premieres of new car models in 2014, attracted 852,000 visitors that year.
