Robert Bosch has opened a Swedish engineering center that focuses on connected mobility and other new technologies.

The German automotive supplier said the new unit, which is located near the southern Swedish city of Lund, is developing software and hardware in areas that include vehicle connectivity, automotive security systems, and motorized two-wheelers.

The center also is working on connecting mobility with other parts of the Internet of Things.  It cited energy and building technology as examples.

Bosch opted for Lund to be close to the university there. The engineering center is also located within Lund's Ideon Science Park, which hosts about 2,700 developers working for established companies and startups.
