The annual conference is organized by Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer, who heads the Center Automotive Research (CAR) at Germany's Duisburg-Essen University.
This year's event has as its theme "Turning point in the automotive industry" and many of the speakers will address the new wave of innovation that is transforming cars and their manufacturers.
On January 31, there will be an additional program that has as its focus "Future Automated Driving - Innovations to lose Control?"
Issues that will be discussed include security, privacy and conditions that need to be met to make fully automated driving a reality.
