EMC has acquired three cloud technology companies in a move to further strengthen its core product offering. The US-based IT group said it has bought The Cloudscaling Group, Maginatics and Spanning Cloud Apps. 

EMC said the acquisition will help enable it to provide better hybrid cloud services. Cloudscaling is an infrastructure-as-a-service specialisr; Maginatics makes data protection software; and Spanning offers subscription-based backup and recovery for cloud-based applications and data.
