Fisker said it has set a record for the simultaneous charging of single-brand electric vehicles.

The US-based electric sports car maker said 45 of its range-extended Karma EVs were charged simultaneously at an event in the Netherlands last week.

The gathering was organized by Fisker Nederland, which installed 60 240-volt charging points at the Floriade horticultural exhibition in the city of Venlo.

California-based Fisker specializes in making premium electrically-powered sports cars. Its first model, the Karma, was unveiled at at the 2008 Detroit auto show. It went on sale in December, 2011.

Fisker Nederland claims to be the most successful European sales agent of the American electric car maker. The Dutch sales organization has sold more than 130 Karmas since January.

Said Geert-Jan Tax, general manager of Fisker Nederland: "The success of Fisker in the Dutch market underlines the massive potential that the Karma has around the globe."
