Former Volkswagen Group CIO Klaus-Hardy Muehleck will take over as head of all IT operations at  Thyssen Krupp, a spokesperson for the German German engineering and steel group said Tuesday.
Muehleck, 58, will assume his new responsibilities on January 1, 2013, taking over from Hans-Guenter Gaul. Gaul will be staying in the company.
Thyssen Krupp is in the midst of a major top management reorganization. Three of its board members are leaving the group, which earlier this week reported a 5 billion euro net loss in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30. Those losses mostly reflected a 3.6 billion euro impairment charge related to failed steel plant projects in Brazil.
Muehleck, who was succceeded at VW a year ago by Martin Hofmann, will report directly to Thyssen Krupp CEO Heinrich Hiesinger.
