Garmin has launched a new truck navigation system with a 7 inch display.

The dezl 760LMT will also feature active lane guidance, lifetime maps and a range of trucking-specific functions. These include special route calculation, hazard warnings, points of interest for truckers and an extra loudspeaker and backup camera support.

The system can be connected to a smartphone to receive real-time information from the Web.

Clive Taylor, director of European product marketing at Garmin said the 7 inch display  "makes it easy for truckers to see all the information they need at a glance and allows for split-screen depiction of our new Active Lane Guidance." He added in a press release that the system aims to be "a full-featured digital assistant in the cab."

Garmin, one of the world's biggest providers of satellite navigation systems, is showing the dezl 760LMT at the Elmia Truck Show in Jonkoping, Sweden, this week.
