Satellite navigation maker Garmin said Tuesday it wil provide a “connected and integrated navigation package” in North America for the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara and SX4 models, including the SX4 Crossover, SX4 Sport and SX4 SportBack.
The system will provide wireless online information such as Google local search, traffic, weather, fuel prices, movie listings, flight status, local events, and white page telephone listings, the company said.
“Suzuki can boast of being the first auto manufacturer to feature a connected navigation device in North America," said Dan Bartel, Garmin's vice president of worldwide sales.
Based on Garmin's popular nuvi 1690, users can access a wide variety of detailed information. They will also get dynamic traffic and weather data.
The Suzuki navigation system also features ecoRoute, an innovative application that helps drivers find the most fuel-efficient route to their destination.
The Garmin unit, which is detachable, will come with free wireless data services in the first year. In subsequent years, these services will cost 60 dollars a year.
