Garmin will provide global navigation systems that will be integrated into the infotainment system of future Mercedes-Benz models.

The Switzerland-based satellite navigation company said the Mercedes systems will show navigation and maps on the in-dash display and will also provide access to a range of driver assistance information.

In addition, Garmin said its next-generation navigation software will provide critical positioning information to help drivers deal with challenging situations.

Earlier this year, Garmin unveiled the K2 platform, itsnext-generation automotive infotainment system. The platform, which was inspired by the company's avionics and marine technology, K2 turns the car dashboard into a digital cockpit that provides intuitive connectivity and access to all driver-assistance and infotainment functions.

Garmin makes navigation systems for the auto and aviation industry as well as for personal navigation devices.
