Owners of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles from the 2015 model-year or newer can now rent them via the Maven platform. The Peer Cars service is undergoing beta testing in Chicago, Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan, with further US roll-outs this fall, and is integrated into the existing Maven app. Participating private vehicles will be insured by GM.
The Maven platform currently supports on-demand car rental charged by the hour, day, or month (to be returned to fixed city station), university campus-based rentals, and Maven Gig, weekly rentals of cars for rideshare and delivery drivers.
Julia Steyn, vice president, General Motors Urban Mobility and Maven, points out in a statement: “Your car is one of the most expensive things you own. Sitting idle, it is a wasted asset… Maven’s peer-to-peer offering is a smart way for owners to offset their vehicle investment.”
