Opel said it will show an electric concept car with "production potential" at next week's Frankfurt auto show (IAA).

The German division of General Motors said the two-seat tandem-layout model is specifically for urban transport. It targets younger drivers looking for affordable transportation.

Opel said the concept, which is inspired by the Opel Ampera hybrid electric vehicle, is a battery-powered electric vehicle with a 60 mile range and a top speed of 75 miles an hour.
