The Frankfurt auto show, which takes place every second year, will officially open September 17. On the two preceding days, Sept 15 and 16, there will be two press days.
The world's biggest auto show will have as its theme "Mobility Connects," a reference to the biggest change sweeping through the global automotive industry today.
The Frankfurt show, which is officially called the IAA, alternates with Paris, which hosted the global auto industry in 2014.
Frankfurt, which is organized by the powerful German auto industry association (VDA), is traditionally dominated by the big German carmakers. But nearly all global car brands tend to be present at the exhibition as well.
In 2013, there were 1,098 registered exhibitors, with 461 coming from abroad. That total includes automotive suppliers.
The last IAA saw 159 world premieres for new car models and, according to official statistics, 881,000 visitors came to Frankfurt for the show.
