Fraunhofer and Intel executive signed an agreement during the CeBIT high-tech fair

US chipmaker Intel and Germany's Fraunhofer Institute want to strengthen cooperation in the field of embedded systems.

The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding focusing on the development of embedded systems that are based on multi-core architectures.

Embedded systems can be found in many electronic devices, from machine tools to videorecorders to central control units in cars. Fraunhofer's experimental software engineering institute (IESE) offers studies in master software engineering for embedded systems in its Fraunhofer Academy.

The cooperation between Fraunhofer and Intel aims to integrate and connect the multi-core programming and embedded systems research conducted by both companies.

The Fraunhofer Academy provides further education for specialists and managers.
