Lexus is offering high-speed wifi connectivity inside its new IS sedan in a sign that all premium car makers want to be competitive in the connectivity arena.
The luxury brand, which is part of the Toyota Group, said its new Lexus Hotspot system is always available and activated whenever the car is switched on. Up to five on-board wifi devices can be connected.
Lexus is using a dual antenna form, which it says will provide better performance compared with traditional smartphone-enabled hotspots in the car. A sim card from any GSM provider needs to be fitted in the car.
The Lexus Hotspot is also available in the GS, CT and RX models.
