The Swedish carmaker said the new App, which is a development of the existing Volvo On Call App, features a car locator, remote door lock and heater starter, access to dashboard information and the ability to check the technical state of the car. In addition, the App provides theft notification and safety and security features that were also included in the first generation.
"This is much more than a gadget," Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby said in a press release. "The mobile application is the first step in our connectivity strategy."
The mobile App is free and can be downloaded via the iPhone and Android application stores. It works for all new Volvo models from model year 2012.
Said Jacoby: "The new mobile application transforms Volvo On Call from an emergency system to a useful convenience feature."
