Volvo Cars said its new 90 Series cars will offer the Skype for Business communication tool. The option marks a further addition to the auto industry's growing range of connected services.

The Swedish premium car group said it is the first to provide the Microsoft service, which offers a range of expanded Skype functions tailored to the needs of business people.

"Skype for Business represents another big step forward for our in-car connectivity and communication offer," Volvo's vice president consumer connectivity services, Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz, said in a statement.

Volvo said is also looking into the possible deployment of Microsoft's Cortana voice software as part of the companies' automotive collaboration.
