NTT Data has agreed to acquire Dell Services for a reported 3.1 billion dollars, in a move that will strengthen the Japanese IT service provider’s position in North America and boost its ability to deliver infrastructure services.

Dell Services specializes in infrastructure, cloud services and business process outsourcing (BPO).

“Welcoming Dell Services to NTT DATA is expected to strengthen our leadership position in the IT services market and initiates an important business relationship with Dell," NTT Data CEO Toshio Iwamoto said in a press statement.

For Dell, the transaction means additional revenue as the US-based technology group  prepares to finalize the 67 billion-dollar acquisition of cloud specialist EMC.

NTT Data said the tie-up with Dell Services will significantly boost its BPO capabilities, particularly in health care and insurance; increase its infrastructure platform; and provide the combined company with expanded technology resources.
