NXP said it has developed an in-vehicle networking solution that makes it easier to offer a flexible LED-based ambient lighting application in cars.

The Netherlands-based semiconductor group said its UJA1018 product allows local interconnect network (LIN) addresses of LED modules to be programmed after installation in a car, rather than during module manufacturing.

This provides greater flexibility and "drastically" reduces manufacturing logistics and costs, NXP said.

The product helps carmakers in their efforts to use ambient lighting as a differentiator in car interiors, the company added.
