Joerg Grotendorst will take over as head of the Siemens division that makes components and systems for automotive electrical drive trains.
Grotendorst, 42, will take over the business unit, which is called "Inside e-Car," on June 1.
The new CEO was most recently in charge of strategy and technology in the powertrain division of supplier Continental.
Earlier he held several management positions at Continental. He started his career 16 years ago at premium car maker Daimler and also worked for Ford.
Grotendorst takes over from Ralf-Michael Franke, who has recently served as acting head of Inside e-Car.
Franke, the head of Siemens' drive technology division, said Grotendorst is "the right choice to further expand our electromobility activities and to position Siemens as a system supplier."
