T-Systems has appointed Heinz Egeler as head of its connected-car business, succceeding Horst Leonberger, who has left the company.

Egeler, has worked in and with the auto industry for more than 20 years. Since 2001, he has worked for T-Systems in various automotive management positions within the business services department of the company.

The new connected-car boss took on his new management duties on June 1 as senior vice president. He is responsible for all aspects of T-Systems' connected-car business, from marketing and sales to partner management.

In his most recent role, Egeler built up the telecommunications and IT consultants' global automotive supplier business. That area remains under his control in his new position.
