ZF says Asset Tracking will help logistics companies better monitor goods (Photo: ZF)

ZF Friedrichshafen unveiled a new software that flexibly monitors internal and external logistics processes.

The product, which is called Asset Tracking, is part of the German automotive supplier’s Openmatics connectivity platform.

Asset Tracking allows car manufacturers, fleet operators and logistics companies to monitor connected vehicles or freight that is being transported.

ZF, which showed the new product at the LogiMAT logistics trade fair in Stuttgart this week, said the software will “improve efficiency and significantly reduce error rates.”

Asset Tracking uses battery-powered hardware tags to connect assets. With Bluetooth connectivity, these tags transmit data directly from the goods. This allows users to detect and respond to losses or damage in real time, ZF said.
