Consultants Capgemini and SAP's Sybase said they will jointly deploy and develop enterprise mobility solutions.

Capgemini will host solutions powered by Sybase technologies and offer them on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) basis. The two companies will also develop new mobility solutions from SAP.

The cooperation comes as corporate CIOs struggle to deal with growing demands from staff to use mobile devices to handle critical tasks.

"We believe now is the time to expand into this market," said Fernando Alvarez, vice president and Mobile Solutions practice leader at Capgemini.

Capgemini will be able to provide solutions via on-premise and hosted environments through public or private clouds.

The consultants said their solutions would reduce complexity by bundling software and services; let customers build on existing SAP solutions; improve data collection; and reduce dependence on proprietary IT applications.

Together with SAP, Capgemini intends to offer a range of mobile SAP applications for sales, workflow and various data management tasks.

"Mobility is a real game changer for the enterprise, said SAP senior vice president Chris McClain. He added that the cooperation with CapGemini should help accelerate the adoption of the group's mobility solutions.
