Faraday Future has recruited veteran BMW executive Ulrich Kranz as chief technology officer (CTO), adding more automotive expertise from the German premium car group.

Earlier this year, FF hired former Deutsche Bank board member Stefan Krause to head up its finance operations. Krause previously served as BMW CFO.

Kranz, who most recently was in charge of BMW's electric i range, said in a statement published by FF that the Chinese-funded electric vehicle startup has "the right people, the right vision and a very innovative product."

Kranz added that his primary goal at FF was "to get FF 91 on the road." The FF 91 will be the company's first production car, which is scheduled for launch sometime in 2018.

Faraday showed the car at the Las Vegas CES in January, but there has been press speculation in recent months that financing difficulties could delay the launch.
