TomTom today announced two new features aimed at increasing safety and efficiency for businesses.

The Amsterdam-based provider of navigation systems and services said it is launching Active Driver Feedback and WEBFLEET OptiDrive.

Active Driver Feedback promotes safe driving by providing drivers immediate feedback on their driving performance via their TomTom PRO navigation devices, the company said in a press release.

WEBFLEET OptiDriveâ„¢ gives business management an easy tool to help drivers drive more safely and in a greener way.

"We believe that empowering drivers is a key success factor in promoting a safe driving policy" said Thomas Schmidt, managing director of TomTom Business Solutions.

Both new features tackle the issues of fuel efficiency, driving style, idling and speeding.

Active Driver Feedback features include fuel-consumption information, prompts to improve driver performance and a statistics menu to provide trip details to a driver.

WEBFLEET OptiDrive presents information in clear graphs and reports to fleet managers. TomTom said the OptiDrive display can be tailored to the priorities of every business.

Both services will be avaialabe in Europe in the second quarter. Active Driver Feedback requires a TomTom PRO navigation device.
