Robert Bosch GmbH has announced a series of changes to its board of management, including the creation of a new role: chief digital officer. This position will be taken by Dr. Michael Bolle, currently head of the corporate sector for research and advance engineering, who will also become chief technology officer. Bolle takes on responsibilities including corporate IT; the Bosch Software Innovations GmbH subsidiary; and corporate technology coordination and engineering methods. His role is effective from July 1st 2018.

Dr. Rolf Bulander, spokesman for the Mobility Solutions business division and a board member since 2013, is retiring after 30 years at Bosch. His successor, who will take up his role from January 1st2019, will be Dr. Stefan Hartung; Hartung’s current responsibilities include the Industrial Technology and Energy and Building Technology sectors, as well as the Bosch Connected Industry business unit.

Rolf Najork, currently MD of Bosch Rexroth, is also to join the board of management and will take over Hartung’s job as head of Industrial Technology, including the Drive and Control Technology, Packaging Technology, and Connected Industry units. The Packaging Technology business is currently up for sale, however, as Bosch does not see it as a part of its ongoing core activities and digitalization strategy.

A further new board member will be Dr Christian Fischer, joining Bosch from Roland Berger, a management consultancy. Fischer will head up the Energy and Building Technology division, including Thermotechnology, Global Service Solutions, and Robert Bosch Smart Home GmbH.
