LG Chem, SKI, CATL and Samsung have been named as strategic battery cell suppliers. Volkswagen is also looking at possible participation in battery cell manufacturing facilities in Europe.
The MEB platform lies at the heart of Volkswagen’s electric plans, which the company is now offering to third parties. One example is the planned cooperation with e.GO Mobile AG, announced at the Geneva International Motor Show.
Volkswagen will be installing 400 fast-charging stations along Europe’s major roads and highways by 2020 in collaboration with industry partners. In addition, there will be 3,500 charging points on employee car parks at all production plants with further charging opportunities at dealerships, said the company.
