Rocket Software and T-Systems International, a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary based in Frankfurt, have launched a combined solution for secure and rapid data exchange between product design and manufacturing partners, claiming a 90pc reduction in the time needed to share the data. Three global manufacturers have now signed up to use this, including one of the world’s latest suppliers of automotive seating and components, working with 50 major carmakers and over 2000 suppliers.
T-Systems’ COMPDM imports and extracts CAD (computer aided design) data to and from product data management (PDM) and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. It supports Siemens’ Teamcenter, Aras Innovator and the Dassault Systemes 3DExperience platform, and Rocket’s TruFusion Enterprise automates the CAD data-related collaboration workflows. The combined solution is available from Rocket, which is based in Massachusetts, USA.
Martyn Davies, director of product management, Rocket Software, said in a statement: “Import/export processes from PLMs can be very complex, but with the combined TruFusion Enterprise and COMPDM solution, we are seeing times reduce from one or two hours to 5-10 minutes. When you’re talking about 30-50,000 transactions a year, that equates to a lot of time. Even when we aren’t dealing with PLM workflows, customers are reducing their time taken from 15-30 minutes down to one or two.”
