Toyota and Japan’s NTT Group are cooperating to develop connected-car technologies, combining research in accident prevention, new mobility services and other areas.
The two companies said in a press release that their goal is to realize “a sustainable smart mobility society” and, to achieve this, they want to develop, verify and standardize connected-car technology.
Toyota, the world’s number twoÂ carmaker after Volkswagen, and NTT, one of the largest telecommunications groups, cited fourÂ concrete areas of cooperation:
- Collection and accumulation of vehicle data
- Internet-of-things networks and data centers
- Next-generation communication technologies, including 5G
- Use of artificial intelligence in driver assistance
