Volkswagen’s first mass-market electric vehicle is set to launch later in 2019. In addition to the new car’s electric credentials, the company has focused production for the new VW ID. series on avoiding and reducing CO2 emissions.
The compact ID.1 is the first of what will be a range of electric vehicles from Volkswagen designed to appeal to mass-market buyers, who may be looking for their first electric vehicle. It will be followed by an SUV, a crossover and a sedan as part of a €9 billion investment in e-mobility by 2023.
Volkswagen has also been investing in green power grids under the brand name Elli to help boost infrastructure for its electric vehicles.
