The Bosch IoT Suite of services is now on offer in China via Huawei Cloud. The first service available to Chinese developers is Bosch IoT Manager, for managing and controlling gateways, sensors and devices, with more to follow in 2019.

An unnamed Chinese automotive manufacturer is already said to be deploying the Bosch IoT Suite for over-the-air (OTA) updates of its vehicles’ firmware. The Suite includes services such as Vehicle Management Solution, enabling OTA and predictive diagnostics, with continuously-updated software as the interface between vehicle, manufacturer and fleet manager.

Bosch and Huawei Cloud are going on to co-develop an end-to-end IoT product: Huawei will provide hardware gateways which will integrate with Bosch IoT gateway software, managed through the Bosch IoT Remote Manager to run on Huawei Cloud. This is said to promise a more easily-deployed complete solution.

The Bosch IoT Suite will continue to be available on Bosch’s own IoT Cloud in China, as well as offered globally in other cloud environments. Caroline Buck, product owner of the Bosch IoT Suite, pointed out in a statement: “Companies adopting IoT rarely go all-in with only one cloud provider. They are selecting different cloud providers based on their own digital strategy, for example with a particular regional or market-specific focus.”

Dr Stefan Ferber, CEO of Bosch Software Innovations, noted: “The demand for IoT solutions in China is rising… We are pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Huawei Cloud to offer cloud-based IoT services providing various functions needed to connect devices, users and businesses. I am confident that by joining forces, our companies will advance the development of the Internet of Things in China.”
